Morning Mashup: Liles recalled

Morning Mashup: Liles recalled

191

Good morning Leafs fans, another week is upon us and it sees the Blue & White heading west to take on Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

Bozak has been placed on the Injured Reserve, which – regardless of what you think about the de-facto first line centre – is a blow to this Leafs team. I would expect Kadri to continue to fill in at his position for the time being, but I’m also hoping that a little more ice time combined with a higher quality set of linemates leads Kadri to get in a bit of a groove. Kadri is the team’s most-skilled centerman, and he needs to produce if this banged-up team is to continue to build on their strong start.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic division, the Buffalo Sabres traded Tomas Vanek to the Islanders in what is likely the first of many trades as the Sabres dismantle their team and aim low for a good draft pick this season.

Breaking News: The Leafs have just recalled John-Michael Liles from the Marlies – an extra defenseman for the Western road trip and a nice opportunity to get back among the team for Liles, who took the whole demotion thing pretty well. Likely means Kulemin will remain on LTIR for the time being.

I don't believe I would ever trade with Buffalo. Not the last few years any way. They seem to always win the Deal

@dlb eh

Or JML just sits for the road trip and gets sent down when it's over.

@Pent_House I'd say that too if we weren't paying Ranger 1m and Liles what 3.5?

@Pent_House Oh fuck, now you're going to start in on him again heh

@TheCanucksnaphook Auction for Ryan Miller? Surely Nonis has Reimer being a part of that discussion. You could argue even that salary-wise Reims is the bargain of the two.

@Gilbey93 There's a parody on Youtube called 'Took It in The Bottom", hope CBC uses that as the Sens/Habs victory song. Also, Drake sucks.

@TheCanucksnaphook Moulson and in the summer Vanek is probably gone too.   Nielsen (as much as I like this guy) is not a PPG player neither is Okposo.  Isles are still only 4-4-3 with 2 or 3 guys playing way above their level.

Isles is fall down again and why would Tavares stay there - it is a waste for the NHL to have him on Long Island. Just imagine the merchandise he would sell in Toronto.

@TheCanucksnaphook

Interesting stat in all this is the fact that Moulson actually has more goals over the past three seasons than Vanek.

However, that is mainly due to the fact he has been playing with one of the best centres in the league, while Vanek has been playing with crap in Buffalo.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Moulson resigns with the Islanders next summer anyways.

@Dan39 Reimer's not going anywhere this year. Isn't it obvious we still need him?

Yes Firing Mr. Ruff was a horrible blunder but as far as trades go Buffalo is a power house.

@Dan39 @djamon If we get him for Bernier money or a bit more why would we downgrade to someone of less quality when clearly we need two good goaltenders? A GREAT player in every position is just that. I mean, isn't that what every team is looking for?

@djamon @Dan39 Hey, I like Reimer, but I have a feeling he ain't going to be around past this season if he even makes it that far. Contract up at the end of the season and he's going to need a good raise from the $1.6M he's making now. I think you have to at least have to have a line into the market to see what you could get for him.

@.JVR. @Gilbey93 Didn't he do the halftime show at the Sens' All-Star game the other year?

@Gilbey93

Was just wondering, because Drake's voice should never be heard at the ACC during a hockey game!

@Uncle Otis @Gilbey93 I like the Barenaked Ladies. They have a pretty unique sound. Don't know if they've done anything new.

Haha I don't hate Canadian artists, I just more so dislike some of the 'Newer' type of music lol. I think the main issue is popular music these days is pretty terrible lol.

Neil young, Blue Rodeo etc etc - fantastic

And somewhat younger bands like Sam Roberts are great, but they don't get the same fame that the pop artists get around the world these days

@Gilbey93

Blue Rodeo,Tragically Hip, Neil Young, Rush....loved and supported

And many more too.

@Gilbey93 @TheCanucksnaphook Read that list again. If that is not the list of the worst sounding "musicians" in the history of sound, then I dunno what it is.

Out of those four, I can respect what Celine has done, but doesn't mean I have to like her and I actually don't mind Nickelback.
