Note: Troy Bodie has been called up in wake of David Clarkson going to IR with his elbow injury.

Dave Bolland, now skating, interviews for the first time since the injury:

Nice deflection on the team question it about me lol

  • dave14keon1

we  need about 3 more Bolland  and  the cup would be near

  • Jordan29

I just rewatched the game 2 bruins/leafs series last year and man oh man why did we break that team up. That game had 100000 times more effort and will to win then this years team ever had. I really hope when the playoffs come around and if we make it they will up the effort again. Komarov, Grabovski, Fraser, Kadri and others all either MIA or gone this year and were dominant in the game

  • loomx

Love Bolland, can’t wait for him to be back. But people are in for a rude awakening if they think he’s the saviour.

  • Shift_Disturber1

loomx   I don’t understand how people continue to misconstrue the appreciation for a guy that fills a few vital roles, that subsequently shift others into better fitting roles as thinking of him as a saviour.

He helps things, he’s not a cure all

  • Jordan29

loomx Well I was never a huge Bolland fan, I like him but I think hes just a 2-3 centre. But IMO he will be huge for this team. Other then another centre I feel we are only lacking speed, which is why I want to see Komarov back

  • Shift_Disturber1

TheCanucksnaphookJordan29  also let’s keep in mind Playoff series vs regular season grind. Very different

  • Jordan29

TheCanucksnaphook Jordan29 go back and watch that game or at least the highlights and you will see a completely different team

  • Shift_Disturber1

    wiski  Fuuuuuuu-uuuu-uuu-ck  yeah!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jordan29

CanuckUKinToronto Jordan29 points wise but he was always on the puck. Im literally watching it right now

  • wiski

Jordan29 TheCanucksnaphook Hope we see that effort tonight

  • loomx

Shift_Disturber1 loomx My problem is that he’s played 15 games for us and while he’s played well 1. I don’t think he’ll be the same player when he comes back this year and 2. He’s made a career out of being injured. He’s only played over 70 games twice in his career. Expecting that he’ll play the same way he played over 15 games with us is unrealistic. One forward won’t help the defense.

  • Shift_Disturber1

wiskiHahaha just sw the phil kessles ego tweet part. LOL

  • Jmessih

TheCanucksnaphook You used the sarcasm front wrong. Leo the lion-heart for prime minister!! But seriously tho, this team is so much better with him then without him. He is an emotion leader and often turned momentum last year with his energy and willingness to go into the dirty areas.

  • loomx

TheCanucksnaphook Jordan29 That’s not the point. You can replace them with similar players but it doesn’t change the fact that you messed up chemistry and gutted the locker room. Made no sense to do what Nonis did.

  • loomx

TheCanucksnaphook Replace Komarov with Bolland and I have the same feelings on the matter. Neither player will magically make the team better.

  • Jordan29

TheCanucksnaphook Jmessih he brought speed to the bottom 6 and a real forecheck. Not the shit we have now. He was very usefull

Darren MacCarty AMA on Reddit had this little gem when asked about his favourite power forward:

Thanks for making me feel old, but I appreciate it.
Great question! All I can answer is this, This is not my game anymore. Everything you said is true, the most valuable guys you can play in that role have to be able to play for 15 minutes. My favorite power forward who I think would fit in with the wings to perfection is David Clarkson of Toronto. Game has changed, but you need team toughness. You dont need a killer on the bench but you need who can growl and keep your guys safe.
I’d say today, under Bettman hockey, that role is dwindling and that makes me sad.
I would say he is coming from a different angle. Now he is a general manager who has to keep his guys safe. That is his opinion, I am not a general manager, and I know he says that as a general manager and not as a player.
My question to him would be, If I were in my prime, wouldn’t you want me on your team?

  • Jordan29

loomx TheCanucksnaphook Jordan29 I liked some moves but I didnt like losing Komarov, letting Grabo go just to resign Fraser/Ranger and keep Liles.

    JVR-Bozak-Kessel
    Lupul-Kadri-Grabovski
    Clarkson-Bolland-Kulemin
    Komarov-Mcclement-Orr

    Phaneuf-Gunnar
    Gardiner-Franson
    Rielly-Brennan/Mcwilliam

    Bernier
    Reimer

Not sure if the cap would have worked but this would have been sick

  • http://mapleleafshotstove.com/ DeclanK

Jordan29 loomx His skating wasn’t a strong suit before and I can see him game taking a long time to sort itself out.

  • Jordan29

DeclanK Jordan29 loomx Thats the issue I have with Bolland. From day one, we took out 3 fast players with Macarthur, Grabo, Komarov. Replaced them With one in Raymond, and two slow players in Clarkson and Bolland

  • Shift_Disturber1

    <cough> bullshit <cough>

  • Dangle_My_Berries

TheCanucksnaphook Jmessih in leo’s defence, he does play on the top line of one of the best KHL teams, hes no plug

  • http://mapleleafshotstove.com/ DeclanK

TheCanucksnaphook DeclanK He was getting prime minutes in NJ and I’d say he’s squeezing the stick pretty badly right now. Not the headiest player, but it beats dressing 2 goons, if that’s what it means having him in the lineup (crazy salary / term aside)

  • Jordan29

TheCanucksnaphook Jordan29 because Nonis offered him a ridiculous 1.4 mil. Hes worth 1.75-2 easy even as a RFA IMO. Nonis needs to sign him asap

  • Shift_Disturber1

loomxTheCanucksnaphookmaybe not but adding both certainly helps

  • http://mapleleafshotstove.com/ DeclanK

Jordan29 DeclanK loomx I’d like you to continue watched every game of that series and notice how much Grabo is on the ice picking up a glove, yelling at a ref. Just not able to withstand the physical rigours of playoff hockey. He has pretty faultless work ethic, but he was out of his element in that series.

  • Jordan29

TheCanucksnaphook Jordan29 well then boy you will REALLY be pissed when Bolland leaves this summer lol

  • Bon Scott was a Leaf fan

    loomx Shift_Disturber1
He won’t be 100% this season….but he should be back on track next season.  I really hope we re-sign him.

  • http://mapleleafshotstove.com/ DeclanK

TheCanucksnaphook DeclanK There are no deals for better players in UFA. “We make more mistakes on July 1…”  etc.

  • Bon Scott was a Leaf fan

    Shift_Disturber1
Heh!! I’m not far from Mimico.

  • Shift_Disturber1

Bon Scott was a Leaf fanShift_Disturber1  I knew it 😉
