So Oates and McPhee are out in DC? Not a problem. If you've ever listened to owner Ted Leonsis, he's the hockey genius in Washington and will freely tell you how to build a winner.  ("It's easy")   lol

Over Under date for Carlyle to be fired-

April 23rd

Nonis to Leave the Leafs

July 2015

Bold prediction number 1:

Nonis trades for a goalie to compete with Bernier for the number one spot since we don't know if he can stay healthy over a full season yet

i think the best case scenario is that Carlyle keeps his job (maybe he rehires his assistants or something) and we bring in some new players and we win.

Carlyle's a good guy imo.  he's a classy guy who i like having as our head coach.  i would hate to get a douche bag back there who i would never wish good fortune on.  i like Randy.

but he also has a brand of hockey in mind that i personally like.  beat them in the alley and on the scoreboard with a good honest effort.  no shortcuts.  take nothing for granted.  appreciate every minute.

Carlyle didn't get it done, not this year with this team.  but i'd like to see us build a team he could win with, because i think it would be the most satisfying way to win.

but if they all do their interviews and they determine he's not the man for the job, then i'm ok with that too ... as long as they collect the data and have a look at it all before they decide.

@Bruffins Doubt that.  prediction--  Nonis trades/signs a vet backup goalie who is expected to play 20 games but can play 45- if injuries who can also mentor Bernier for his additional development

@Bruffins

Or we change our system so Bernier doesn't have to face 45 shots a night...

@lukethenuke What is amazing.. I just checked out his height-  he is 6 ft 1 and looks like a boy.. but David decked Goliath

@dlb meh

are you ready to trade Holland for a fourth? Do the same with Ashton and D'amigo soon as well?

@dlb meh Because he will know how to set the lines better next year. Not buying it

@CanuckUKinToronto Of the 2, I would pick Van. Don't know the set up there but wouldn't want to work in the Burke + GM environment.

EDIT: Forgot about Linden.  Neither, wait for more control, imo.

@NotTheCanucksnaphook his usual-  need to get in front of the media play

probably just talking about how they significantly improved, year end analysis and will find a GM by trade deadline etc..

@CanuckUKinToronto @Bruffins Would anybody consider Backstrom for that spot? Is he washed up or did he just have a bad year and might need a change of scenery?

Should add I'd want to trade a guy like Gleason for him. Would free up half a million in cap space and their contracts expire 2 seasons from now

@Bruffins

what do you mean?  you think not playing them this year means Carlyle's done with them?

i though MLHS was better than this.  i'm starting to think not.

look deeper

@Mcost61

i'm one of the few who believes he didn't want to put too many kids into bad situations.  i believe there was method to it.

what he's done in the end, is kept our hopes up for these kids.  in a market where people get down on them so quickly, it made sense to me to have him live with the veterans like he did.

through the bad decisions we were 9th overall and entering the Olympics we were among the best in the league and starting to actually play well.

we were never assumed to be good enough, or deep enough, to make due without above average goaltending...same as all the teams below that top tier.

@Mcost61 @CanuckUKinToronto@NotTheCanucksnaphook Well in my life, I have probably fired over 2000 people.  Also, witnessed (and been involved) in replacing the Manager/CEO/Business Head/Division/Product Head maybe 200 times..

Based on that experience, I would take an educated guess that Carlyle is gone in 10 days... guaranteed within 20.  Nonis has about a 10% chance of being here by Sept 2015.

@CanuckUKinToronto @Mcost61 I would like to see some house cleaning, but nothing so far tells me that it will be soon. I have given up wishful thinking.

@Mcost61 @CanuckUKinToronto Shanny answered Duthie saying 1-2 weeks (which were dates that Duthie put in) to say when he could evaluate his coach.

I think in fairness to Carlyle if you plan on firing him.. you do it quietly- on Sunday.. So saying this weekend coming up

I think Nonis is gone after 1 year.  That is how it usually works when a new boss comes in and you keep the prior one-  cross train etc..  esp if the other AGMs are not here after this summer

CanuckUKinToronto
CanuckUKinToronto

@4evrblue @CanuckUKinToronto@Bruffins Injury prone.. so that is the issue and may be expensive.. If they go cheap, and not mentor they might go after Al Montoya.. otherwise-  Brian Elliott maybe?  or Brodeur for one year (as that was Bernier's favourite player growing up (but too expensive and think he is past his abilities now))

@dlb meh @Bruffins

Im saying they don't get a chance to prove themselves.

You can not tell me a coach that plays prospects in their wrong position between Orr and McLaren is doing so in their best interest
