Maple Leafs Trade for Tim Gleason

Tim Gleason is about to be a Maple Leaf.

A quick Tim Gleason scouting report from Hockey Forcaster:
Assets: Is capable of playing a shutdown role, due to a combination of hockey sense, mobility and an aggressive nature. Also has a little offensive acumen. A good team player, he always works extremely hard and sacrifices his body.
Flaws: Doesn’t take enough shots to be a key contributor at the point on the power play, nor does he take full advantage of his skill-set on offense. At times, he can be overly aggressive when lining players up for the big hit.

Decent deal. JML played ok of late but Gleason will add some grit and leadership.

I have a feeling Robertson in guaranteed to make the jump now from NCAA to pro. Carolina does not target Robertson as an acquisition unless he’s been scouted in advance and the scouts like him. Think of Greg Pateryn in the Grabovski(?) trade who in his junior and senior years turned into a leader for his team and looked like he had a solid pro career ahead of him.
Also will be a graduate of Brown. Maybe Carolina needs him to do a little office work on the side…

More grit on the backend never hurts. Makes us tougher to play against.

Needed a Defensive defensemen. Wanted a bigger name like Dan Giradi. But this is a good hockey trade for us. All the best Liles.

Your bottom pairing defenceman, or 7th D, should be a shut down type, rather than a puck-moving D. Sideways move at best.

    Not bad at all

Decent trade, we needed a shutdown type guy and Fraser just has not been getting the job done this year.
