After two consecutive losses, the Maple Leafs closed out their Western Canada swing with an impressive victory.
Mark Arcobello scored two goals in seventeen seconds to answer after the Leafs had fallen behind before Brendan Leipsic’s first NHL goal extended the lead in the third. Vancouver got back within one, but two empty net goals ensured the victory.

The ‘top’ line, with Leo Komarov, Michael Grabner and Peter Holland, went up against the Sedins. While they struggled to generate much offense without Nazem Kadri, they were able to limit the chances against, with Komarov and Grabner only on for one against at ES. The line that was the most successful offensively was again P.A. Parenteau with Mark Arcobello and Colin Greening. They generated a good number of chances, although they were also the worst defensive line for the Leafs. The fourth line didn’t get a lot of ice-time, but were effective in that time, not on for a single chance against, with Leipsic contributing the winning goal as well.
Matt Hunwick and Morgan Rielly were able to team with the Komarov line and shut down the Sedins, putting up some of their best defensive numbers of the season. Playing his old team, Frank Corrado completed an excellent Western trip, not on for a single chance against. While they haven’t gotten particularly tough assignments, Corrado and Marincin have been an effective bottom pairing in the last few games. Roman Polak was the worst Leaf in terms of chances, on for a team-worst eight against.
