Courtesy of Chris Johnston, we (finally) learned today that the condition on the pick acquired in the Jonathan Bernier trade requires the Ducks (or Bernier’s team at the time, if there is another trade) to make it to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final with Bernier starting half of the playoff games.
Otherwise — and highly likely — no pick will change hands. Here is the full list of conditions involved:

Anyway, clearly the major goal with the Bernier trade was moving the cap hit without retaining salary given the Leafs had one of the most expensive tandems in the league and a need for cap space, especially considering possible performance bonus achievements by Matthews, Marner and Nylander.
