Pronman’s team prospect strength rankings are out, with the Leafs up 15 spots to #2, Phil Kessel’s first official photo in a Penguins jersey predictably inspires humorous photoshops, and more in the links.

  • Corey Pronman: Ranking every NHL team by prospect strength (ESPN)
Pronman has the Leafs up to second in the League, up from 17th this time last year. Quantum leap. Insider subscription required to read the full thing. Here is the relevant Leafs portion, courtesy of r/Leafs:

The Leafs‘ system has skyrocketed the past 12 months, following a great 2015 draft, key trades and progression from some prospects. Mitch Marner and William Nylander are true top-flight names, and they have a lot of depth in quality prospects, many of whom are in my top 100 overall NHL prospects column.

  • Josh Cooper: Phil Kessel’s first Penguins pic leads to Photoshop hilarity (Puck Daddy)
The Penguins took a photo of Phil Kessel in his new uniform on Monday and tweeted it out. He looked frumpy, frowny and maybe a little doughy. So basically, he looked like Kessel.

  • Achariya: Maple Leafs’ Top 25 Under 25: #24 Matt Finn (PPP)
In training camp, Finn sustained a lower-body injury that had him sitting out the remainder of camp and the first seven games of the season. This injury was described by some sources as being to his knee, which is troubling given a 2012 tear to his MCL and ACL that required six weeks of intensive therapy. There is no evidence, though, that last season’s injury was to the same knee.

  • BarDown Staff: The cameos continue for Goon 2 with Georges Laraque, Colton Orr, and George Parros (TSN)
Over the last week, that cast has increased even more in star power thanks to some of hockey’s toughest players making appearances on set. Liev Schreiber who plays Ross “The Boss” Rhea posted pictures on twitter with Colton Orr, George Parros, Georges Laraque, and the original goon Doug Smith.

  • Josh Cooper: Newest Ranger Jarret Stoll defends himself as a person and player (Puck Daddy)
When asked about the association of his name and cocaine Stoll went on the offensive. Earlier in the summer, Stoll pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors stemming from an arrest for suspicion of cocaine and Ecstasy possession at a Las Vegas pool. These were Stoll’s first public comments on the matter since it happened.
