The Toronto Maple Leafs have floated Jared Cowen out on the waiver wire hoping some team will take an interest in an expensive depth defenceman at no trade cost.
Barring that unlikely event, he has remained with the Maple Leafs rather than joining the Toronto Marlies, according to Paul Hendrick. He’s also frustrated he hasn’t made an appearance in the lineup yet:

Parenteau leaves practice
Leafs say Parenteau dealing with "soreness"… that's why he left practice
— Mark Masters (@markhmasters) February 26, 2016
PA Parenteau took a hit from Jordan Staal at the very end of the game last night that sent him into the boards awkwardly and had Maple Leafs management holding their collective breath. It appears he’s dealing with some soreness from that incident, which doesn’t sound like it should be a long-term thing. The game appeared to work in Leafs management’s favour after a two-point night for Parenteau, but it depends if this injury is much of anything. (For those suggesting the injury doesn’t exist, making up an injury for someone you’re attempting to trade just to get him out of practice, after he played in a game last night, doesn’t make much sense in any capacity).
