Mitch Marner’s four-point Game 2
OHL playoff scoring leader Mitch Marner added four more points to his campaign last night as the London Knights went 2-0 up on Kitchener in the Western Conference semifinals.
Playoffs | GP | G | A | Pts | Shots |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Mitch Marner | 8 | 6 | 13 | 19 | 27 |
MLHS’ intrepid London Knights correspondent, Knights2Leafs, has the update on Marner’s spectacular game yesterday afternoon:
I said yesterday that Friday’s game was Marner’s best of the playoffs so far. Well, he just took that to a whole different level today. The kid is electric on the ice. Near the end of the game, diving to knock a puck over the blueline, killing penalties and being the key man on the power play. In the third period, one of the defencemen passed the puck to Marner standing near center ice. The puck was about six inches off the ground and Marner batted it back hand down the ice. His hand eye coordination is unreal. The pass that he corralled as he was crossing blue line was a bullet and his ability to control and lay it on to Tkachuk’s stick was “Marner Magic.” When Marner has the puck in his end, he has an uncanny ability to loft it up over the defenceman like a 60 degree wedge. It’s not just the spectacular things he does; it’s also the cumulative effect of all the little thing he does — cut off an opposing forward, redirect a puck, use his feet to control a puck. I’d love to see him back in the O next year, but I really hope I don’t.
