Anthony Petrielli joins Michael and Michael to talk about the 7-1 Ducks coming to town, the Leafs’ recent struggles, team identity confusion, poor possession play, the return of Clarkson this Friday, and more.
Some of our trade proposal fans are going to be in heaven.
Capgeek has developed a "trade machine" on it's website. Fill in the blanks and see the results.
I know some people hate him but didn't Cherry bring up Hall and showed how reckless he was? Or was that RNH? Prophetic.
Anyone want Kulikov? I can see T.O. being interested but why would FLA want to trade him, he's only 22 and a 14th overall pick?
Evening everyone, think we will be involved in a very, very tough game tonight. I have watched 3 Ducks games this season and they are pretty awesome to watch. Even with their PP and PK not clicking they are generating a boat load of chances. Bernier is going to be busy tonight but I think we will sneak it 3-2
I haven't scrolled down so not sure if anyone mentioned, but Sportsnet has a great article on shot stats .
Peddie talks about Bettman, from the Globe and Mail.
Penguins outshot Colorado 36-14 last night. Lost. Colorado has won six games this year when they've been outshot.
Hmmm, so Richard Peddie has a tell-all out, I'm reading. On Vince Carter: “Vince was a mama’s boy." Could be interesting.
Makes sense. You'll always get an argument over some assigned numbers, but it works as a general snapshot.
@Gilbey93 where? I don;t see it
@Xxxxxnew I just traded him for Toews. Lucky me.
@Jmessih I'm going to the game tonight and if I don't see a higher level of toughness, I'm going to be pissed. Falling behind on fighting majors and I'm sure hits are the same. We don't play our game, we lose.
@Burtonboy Yes, astute. From the no shit dept. I can stop them if they're shooting from centre.
@Burtonboy either way it helps pad his stats when people take shots form the blue line at him :)
@Burtonboy Bernier is bang on, the Leafs allow shots from the boards to the face off dot but very few in the 20 foot area prime slot.
@Xxxxxnew Really interesting article. Thanks for the share.
@Xxxxxnew same as us! hehe
I read the portion on Bettman and the NHL last week. My main takeaway is he believes 18 teams aren't making a profit but he says Bettman won't even tell individual team owner's what the total NHL financial picture is.
@Gilbey93 I understand and I agree with what you are saying. I think we can all agree that even though Bozak is not the ideal candidate for the 1C slot, we have a pretty good Top 6. Where we might need an improvement is the Bottom 6 as our 4th line is not as good as we would like it to be eventhough we have the necessary players to make it work. I am Ok with our forwards even with both Orr and FML as they play very little minutes, therefore our top 9 would get more ice time.
One area of concern is our D. The D hasn't look really good yet and it is an area of improvement.
My conspiracy theory has to do with the divide between the money making teams and the money losing teams. I'll bet Bettman doesn't want Leafs ownership to see the total numbers on how much of their cash goes to prop up places like Pgoenix.
@Xxxxxnew You have the book, or is that just an excerpt? What's he say about meddling within MLSE, I wonder?
@Ze_theLeafsFan @Pent_House @Gilbey93 If you would accept a new class. They are emerging stars. Lupul hasn't been in one place long enough till now, and Kadri just needs to prove it for another season and I'd call him a star. IF he got more that 16 minutes a night and played with Kessel, he'd be a point a game player or more, he's close to that now.
@Pent_House @Jon5200 @theacs1966 totally agree on the identity comment.....they have definitely been missing the 'sandpaper' in the lineup......the only reason i think Mclaren can come back Friday is i saw a tweet yesterday on the TSN site that said he had to b out 10 games when put on LTIR which would mean he could come back when Clarkson can....
I don't think some of them were physically ready for the nastiness of an 82 game NHL season. I can see the long-term benefit of letting a teen grow for a few seasons, esp. RNH who is pretty tiny. I read an article last week where his junior coach was surprised the minutes RNH had been given initially by the Oilers because he couldn't physically handle over 20 minutes in junior.
@Xxxxxnew Shocking, really, how much bad luck they've had.
@Xxxxxnew thats because the ONLY numbers that matter are the ones in the 'pts' column
@Xxxxxnew The story says the Leafs paid for the repairs, but they should have left it as it was and put a picture frame around it as a reminder for visiting teams.
Actually, I wish more Leafs board owners had been invested emotionally in the team like that over the past four decades.
@XxxxxnewHaha, this is a story from the National Post today on the book.
Peddie also writes of a time after the Ottawa Senators lost a playoff series to the Leafs — Toronto beat Ottawa in four series, between 2000 and 2004 — and the team’s owner was allegedly upset. Peddie claims Senators owner Eugene Melnyk was so upset, in fact, that he “punched a hole in the wall of the visitors’ dressing room” at Air Canada Centre.
