The start of the rookie tournament is the start of hockey for me :-)

  • Optimustic

.JVR. Yup it’s hockey and it’s going to be good to get a chance to see some of the prospects that we don’t see often.  It may be better than the regular pre season games to me.

  • Optimustic

CanuckUKinToronto Optimustic .JVR. Yeah, but preseason games are often a disappointment to me.  too many of the regulars play llke the games just don’t matter. They know they’ll make the team so why put in any effort, it’s just an exercise to get into game shape.

  • Optimustic

CanuckUKinToronto Optimustic .JVR. Yeah,  Ashton is a good example. He’s played in the NHL, but hasn’t really been playing with the line mates that give him a chance to see what he has offensively.  It’d be nice to see him with Kadri, JVR, Kessel, or some of the other offensive prospects.

I will never understand why hockey starts in October and ends in June. Should start in early September and end in May.

B_Leaf Something I just thought of – including camp it follows the elementary school schedule.  Could have something to do with it?  Might be a PA negotiated thing – keep the schedule the way it is to maximize the time the players have with their families, especially the ones that don’t live in the cities they play in.
