The only player to be drafted ahead of Dylan Strome in the 2013 OHL draft as the first overall pick, Konecny was also the 2013-14 OHL Rookie of the Year. He’s also first cousins with Vancouver Canucks forward Bo Horvat, and really good friends with Kingston Frontenacs forward and polarizing draft prospect Lawson Crouse, as they were schoolmates at North York’s PEAC School for Elite Athletes (which also educated Connor McDavid, among others).

I - CP: Avs’ Roy lauds Babcock’s deal with Leafs – TSN
Count Patrick Roy among the NHL coaches who applaud Mike Babcock’s big contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Colorado Avalanche coach said Monday that the eight-year deal at $6.25 million per season Babcock signed last week was overdue and will eventually benefit all members of the profession. He also joked that he might look at asking for an extension when his own contract expires.

The Ken Hitchcock era is alive and well in St. Louis for at least one more season. The St. Louis Blues and head coach Hitchcock have agreed on a one-year contract, general manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday morning.
