Game Day Notes

– The Flames are looking to turn their dismal home form around in their first game back after a six-game road trip (3-2-1). They’ve earned a league-low six points on home ice this season over their ten games at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

– Jhonas Enroth is looking for his first win of the season in his fifth start versus a Flames team that sits bottom of the league in goal difference, 29th in goals per game and second-last in points percentage. The Leafs are 0-3-1 as the tired team in a back-to-back situation this season.

– The loss of Johnny Gaudreau to injury paired with slow starts from Sam Bennett (12 points in 25 games) and Sean Monahan (9 points in 25 games) has the Flames starving for offense 25 games into the season. The Flames are tied for 29th in goals per game a season after finishing top 10 in the category and two seasons after making the playoffs with the sixth-best offense in the NHL. The Flames have just one player in the top 100 NHL points scorers in Michael Frolik, who sits tied for 85th with 14 points in 25 games.

– With summer acquisition Brian Elliott off to a nightmare start with a 3-9-0 record and a .885 save percentage (dead last among goalies with more than 10 games played), Chad Johnson (7-4-0, .922 SV%) is expected to make his eighth start in the Flames’ last ten games. Johnson is 4-1-1 with a .918 save percentage lifetime against the Leafs.
